Early life

Yuchun was born and raised in Seoul, South Korea, until his family immigrated to the United States when he was in the sixth grade.[1] He lived in Fairfax, Virginia, where he attended Holmes Middle School and Chantilly High School.[1] He was scouted by Brothers Entertainment and went back to South Korea, where he joined SM Entertainment.[2] He has a younger brother named Park Yoohwan, who is also known as Ricky Park.

Acting career

Yuchun has appeared on two televised shows with his band-mates, Banjun Theater and Vacation.[3][4]

He also made his successful debut in Japan with the mobile drama by BeeTV Drama <Beautiful Love ~君がいれば~ (Beautiful Love ~If you were here ~)>. He played the main male figure, Young Soo, who is the heir of the rich company.

In 2010, he starred in the KBS drama Sungkyunkwan Scandal (성균관스캔들), portraying Lee Seon Joon, a rich and smart student who falls in love with a woman who is disguised as a man.[5] He has received the "Rookie of the Year award", "Netizens award" and "Best Couple award" at the 2010 KBS Drama Awards ceremony, 47th Paeksang Arts Award (2011) and the 6th Seoul International Drama Awards (2011).

In 2011, he starred in the MBC drama Miss Ripley with Lee Da-hae, Kim Seung-woo, and Kang Hye-jeong.[6]

JYJ

Yoochun is with JYJ after filing a lawsuit against SM Entertainment to nullify his contract. The lawsuit is still pending.

Solo singing career

Micky is featured in "Tokyo Lovelight" from DJ Makai's Stars (mini-album). He and band-mate U-know are also featured rappers in "Heartquake" from Super Junior's Third Album, Sorry, Sorry.[7]

For his 2nd drama "Miss Ripley", Yoochun sang "너를 위한 빈자리 (The Empty Space for You)". It appeared first in the ninth episode of the drama and was released in "Miss Ripley" OST (Part 3).

Song writer

Micky has written and composed several songs that have appeared on TVXQ's Korean and Japanese albums. As a member of SM Town, he contributed to the 2007 winter album Only Love with his composition "Evergreen". Micky also wrote and composed "사랑 안녕 사랑 (Love Bye Love)", featured on the group's fourth Korean studio album Mirotic.[8] For the Trick project, he wrote the lyrics to his solo "My Girlfriend", entirely in English.[9]

"Kiss the Baby Sky", one of the A-side's for TVXQ's twenty-fifth Japanese single, marked the first time that one of the songs both written and composed by Micky was released on a Japanese single.[10]

With band-mates U-Know and Xiah, Micky wrote the rap lyrics to "Love After Love", which appeared on their second Korean studio album, Rising Sun. For the group's Japanese releases, Micky wrote and co-composed "Kiss Shita Mama, Sayonara" (Kissしたまま、さよなら lit. As We Kiss, Goodbye?) with Hero for T, TVXQ's third Japanese album.[11] In September 2009, he and Hero released a self-written duet, "Colors (Melody and Harmony)/Shelter", which was used as the image song for Hello Kitty's 35th anniversary.[12]

His musical career continually expressed even after the separation of TVXQ. Micky was able to compose in the new albums of JYJ. In JYJ’s first international album The Beginning, which was released in 2010, Micky contributed by composing in one of the tracks “I Love You”. In January 2011, Micky even played role as lyricist and composer in their new music essay called Their Rooms "Our Story" for the song "이름없는 노래 Part 1 (A Song Without A Name, Part 1)". In addition, he also did the rap-making in Kim Junsu’s song “Mission”. For JYJ's first Korean album In Heaven, released late Nov 2011, Yoochun helped write and compose "Get Out" with Kim Jaejoong.
